The Mara Intrepids Club is a luxury tented camp set in
riverine forest on a curve of the Talek River, deep in the
Masai Mara Reserve. The camp would be easy to miss as it blends
in superbly with its surroundings. There are 30 spacious tents
each with ensuite bathrooms spread along the banks of the
river in amongst the riverine forest. There is a small, sparkling
swimming pool with a shady terrace supplied with sun beds.
The dining room and lounge bar are
also tented but breakfast and lunch are usually served on
a shady terrace 'al-fresco' with the local population of mongoose
standing by ever hopeful for a tidbit from your table. Dinner
is usually in the dining tent where bushbabies and genet cats
often provide entertainment during your meal. The food is
good and service excellent with the friendly staff ever eager
to make your stay memorable.
There is an elevated terrace beside
the river which is a prime viewing area for the leopards which
often visit the baited tree on the opposite bank. Another
viewing platform is situated near the entrance to the Camp
with a panoramic view over the plains and guests often sit
quietly with sundowners watching the game during the late
afternoon.
