Finch Hattons is situated at the foot of the Chyulu Hills
in Tsavo West National Park. This luxury tented lodge is named
after the aristocrat for whom cut crystal and Mozart were
essential on any safari. This is the style that gave birth
of the ideal that is Finch Hatton's. The deluxe tents are
beautifully furnished and each have their own private bathroom
and verandah, and all the amenityies of a room in a top class
hotel.
The main lodge overlooks a hippo pool
with the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The dining Hall has
many interesting period features, a stone fireplace, high
vaulted ceiling, chandelier, latticed windows and doors, dresser,
and tables decked in silverware, cut crystal and porcelain.
Cuisine and service is of the highest standards. After enjoying
an excellent and exquisitely presented 5 course dinner, guests
are escorted back to their tents by armed askaris. Guests
are required to dress for dinner (no shorts).
The Camp is unfenced and lion, buffalo,
elephant, giraffe and plains game, including the lesser kudu,
come and go as they please. They are most welcome as this
is their home, shared by the hippo and crocodile from the
spring pool.
Facilities include a sparkling swimming pool. Finch Hatton's
is not suitable for small children.
